ON THIS DAY: In 1976, the Concorde airplane was first put into service by British Airways and Air France. (After a long and nearly perfect flying history, the supersonic fleet was only recently taken out of service after its first and only fatal crash.) You knew there had to be a 70s disaster movie set on the Concorde, and you were right. THE CONCORDE: AIRPORT '79 is as outrageously ridiculous as you'd expect, with the typical star-studded, ready- for- HOLLYWOOD SQUARES cast, including Robert Wagner, Charo, Jimmie Walker, Eddie Albert, Cicely Tyson, George Kennedy, and David Warner.
